Couple of nights ago, when I was working in my home, I listened to some songs from my laptop. There was one song which I really like and I searched the chords from the internet last week as I want to teach this song to our team in the church.

And that night I heard the same song again and I replayed this song for many times, slowly I began to worship God. But one thing was bothering me… it was the voice… the singer who sang this song. I really enjoyed this song… word by word… the way the song writer compose this song, it’s just too beautiful. But it was the voice which really distracting me, the voice is so beautiful… I really fell for the voice…

I started looking at the name of the singer from the song list and started searching about him from the internet. I really wanted to know about this person… about who he is… what he does… I really want to know about his spiritual life that he could make such a beautiful worship song. I didn’t realize that I had been distracted from worshiping God.

Yesterday, I realize how easy it is for us to be distracted from God, even on the smallest things. How many times when we were in the church and listening to the preaching, suddenly many things came into our minds? then we started thinking about other things that we couldn’t concentrate on the preaching.

Devils always try to distract our attention from God by putting the things in our mind, he put all the worries. There are times when I was in the church praying or listening to the preaching, the devil started put some issues in my mind, it became hard to focus or to concentrate to God. When this happened, I would pray and ask God to clean my mind and heart. “Tuhan Yesus, sucikan dan kuduskanlah hati dan pikiranku.” After I prayed, I felt my mind became clear that I could focus only to Him.

It is very important when we come to the house of the Lord, we would leave our problems and burdens outside the church, so we can come to worship and praise God in full heart and mind. Devils will use all these problems and burdens to distract our minds from God.

If we leave all our problems and burdens outside, and come to the present of the Lord with thanksgiving, God will bless us.

Psalm 100:4-5 “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
