If I want to look back 20 years ago when I was about 11-12 years old, I couldn’t thank God enough for saving my life and I know that I owe my life to Him.
It was a beautiful day, me and my sister went back home from school. As usually, I rode my bicycle and I took my sister with me on the back seat. When we were near to the crossing, we got down from the bike and slowly we crossed the street.
When we were near to the other side of the road, suddenly a sedan came in a high speed. The driver might had not see us from the far. He tried to brake and tried to avoid us but he was to fast that the car couldn’t stop. I could hear a loud sound of the break and in seconds the car passed very closed to me, he could managed to hit the front wheel of my bike, but it was a miracle that we were saved.
About 10 years back, God has saved me once more from a speeding bus. It was 7:20 in the morning, I was in rush to reach the college as I had a morning class at 7.30 am. I knew that I would be very late, so I chose to go through another way from the way which I used to go.
I normally didn’t pass this road in the morning because I had to pass traditional market, but this road is like a short cut. I drove the car quite fast and when I reached the market I had to slow down because there was a microlet (a transportation in Indonesia where the cars are used as a mini bus) stopped in front of me. The road in front of this market was quite narrow, but as I saw that there was no car coming in front of me, I decided to take over. When I was taking over the way, suddenly his microlet started moving and I was already on the right side of the road. Suddenly a bus came with a high speed from the opposite side, I knew that I couldn’t go back to left side because the microlet was still there. In that moment, I was just giving up… ready whenever the bus come to hit me. I closed my eyes and called the name of Jesus… when I open my eyes I could see the shadow of the bus passed by me… I don’t know how it happened because there was no way the bus could pass without hitting me. But I know it must be because of Jesus. He can do things which are impossible for us.
There are many things beside these things which God has done in my life, I know that God has spared me for His purpose. I know that God has create a beautiful plan for me even before I was born, that He has protected me from all the disaster so he can fulfill His plan.
I remember years back when I was in Jakarta, Bro. Tjantana told us in his preaching how God has protected his daughter from falling. He believed that there was an angel of the Lord which has protected her. He heard the loud sound when the baby fell, when he and his wife attended the child immediately they didn’t find any bruise on her body. He believed that it was the sound of the angel who fell when the angel protected the baby.
I believe that the angels of God are surround the people who believe in Him.
Psalm 34:7 - The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.
