The story of “One Rupee Coin”

Sometimes back, Bro. Linu Thankachan from Bangalore share us a story about one Rupee coin. One Rupee coin travels more than any other notes or coins in the church, because people are most convenience to give one Rupee coin than any other notes.

This story is very interesting and it really stuck in my mind. One Rupee coin today is equal to USD 0.025. I’m not saying that giving one rupee coin is wrong, but it is surely something wrong if someone who are blessed by the Lord and could give more has chosen to give one rupee coin than giving more.

Being in the country where you see many temples or religious places every 100 or 200 meters, I found many interesting things from the way people give to their gods. People came with beautiful clothes, fancy cars, expensive watch, but when it was the time to give, you would see only coins came out from their pockets.

Mark 12:41-44 “Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

There’s a boy in our church, he is not rich neither his family. But every month he could manage to give his faith promise, in fact he is the most faithful “faith promise” giver among the youth. This really amazed me on how he could give from his inadequacy. Even he gives the smallest but actually he has given the highest among all, because he has given with all his heart and sacrifice.

God has promised to bless us abundantly, but we have to be opened in front of God and give our tithes and offerings.

Malachi 3:8 -12 “Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

God not only promised abundant blessings for us but He also promised us that he will also protect our blessings.
